India West Politis | Raja Krishnamoorthi Moves Bill To Double H-1B Visas

Politics - Raja Krishnamoorthi has introduced legislation proposing to double the annual intake of foreign workers on H-1B visas, a short-term work permit that has been a gateway for Indians to work, live and, eventually, seek citizenship of this country.

The bill introduced on July 14, by the Democratic Congressman, seeks to boost the annual H-1B visas from 65,000 to 130,000.

The US runs the H-1B visa program to make up for the shortage of specialty workers, although critics have argued that the shortage is highly exaggerated and that the program is being used by American companies to use less expensive foreign workers brought here by IT services companies.
