Today World News | There has been a widespread and intense mass loss of glaciers and ice caps in Greenland at a rate that is three times faster than seen in the 20th Century, finds an alarming study. The research provides critical insights into long-term changes to the country’s glaciers and ice caps because of climate change, which has contributed about one fifth to global sea-level rise in the last decade. Using historical data, scientists mapped 5,327 glaciers and ice caps that existed at the end of the Little Ice Age in 1900; a period of widespread cooling when average global temperatures dropped by as much as 2 degrees Celsius. They were then able to reveal these fragmented into 5,467 by 2001.

  Today World News - The NBA’s Sacramento Kings owner Vivek Ranadive is among seven finalists bidding to buy the Ottawa Senators. Among others, he will be competing for the NHL franchise with Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds of The Remington Group. Sports outlets reported that Ranadive traveled to Ottawa on April 12 to see the team’s home grounds and discuss a deal that seems might exceed $1 billion, the highest amount ever paid for an NHL franchise.
